Woodland MTV Ecolution : Plant a Tree
Woodland MTV Ecolution : Plant a Tree
Woodland & MTV have kick-started Ecolution – our first digital CSR initiative which envisions a greener India. This movement aims to develop an eco-conscience in you. The idea is simple - for every tree planted online, we will plant one on the ground.
India has 68 million hectares of forest - the 10th largest in the world. The government's National Action Plan aims to expand forest cover from the current 23% to 33% of India's territory. That would require India to afforest of 6 million hectares of degraded forest land.
We have partnered with the NGO GiveIndia, to kick-start a plantation drive that will help change the face of India's green cover. So get started, plant a tree now. Make a difference for a better tomorrow

Making Private forests for the poor and old age persons
I have an idea of making private forests for the poor and old age persons, destitutes who can grow trees for the world. Tree growing old age homes are the concepts which I want to develop in India and working towards it.
Tree Planting is the only way to save planet from the natural requirements. Tree Planting is Billion dollar Idea.
Let us convert 'Sahara Desert' into 'Sahara Forest'. Let us convert all deserts into forests.

Scientists scathing on coastal tree planting - SciDev.Net
Scientists scathing on coastal tree planting - SciDev.Net
[NEW DELHI] Natural coastal ecosystems have been widely destroyed by the planting of alien trees in the mistaken belief that they will work as 'bioshields' against storms and tsunamis, says an international group of scientists.
The team, writing in the February issue of Conservation Letters, reviewed more than 30 papers on the planting of belts of trees as bioshields.
The researchers concluded that there is little evidence to show they protect against storm surges — temporary increases in sea level associated with stormy winds — or tsunamis.
Additionally, using foreign tree for this purpose is doing extraordinary environmental damage, they said.
The review adds to the debate on bioshields' protective role (see Mangroves 'protect coastal villages during cyclones' and Mangroves 'do not protect against tsunamis').

10 Most Magnificent Trees in the World.:
"'A tree is a wonderful living organism which gives shelter, food,
warmth and protection to all living things. It even gives shade to

Project GreenHands
Welcome to Project GreenHands
Throughout the world dire warnings are being issued about the effects of human activity on the natural environment. Communities on every continent are experiencing the devastation of declining water quality, soil degradation, climate change and biodiversity loss. Project GreenHands (PGH), a grassroots ecological initiative established by Isha Foundation in Tamil Nadu, India, has grown out of deep concern for the global effects of deforestation and land degradation, and in particular, for the rapidly changing ecology of Tamil Nadu.
Drawing extensively on community involvement and large scale volunteer participation, the Project aims to plant 114 million trees state-wide - providing an additional 10% to the existing level of tree coverage in Tamil Nadu. Since its inception in 2005, PGH has successfully overseen the planting of more than seven million trees by over one million people. As an accompanying measure, agro-forestry models are introduced to benefit the farming community. Further campaigns aim at involving more local educational institutions, NGOs, corporate partners and individuals to grow saplings and plant trees on a large scale. To that aim, PGH seeks to partner with international agencies and multi-national corporations to support the effort of the Tamil population in a sustainable way.
